What a blessed week at home we are having. Markus rebounded well from last week’s stay in the hospital, and we have been seizing each day and enjoying what God puts on our path.
Aside from one trip to Children’s Hospital for routine blood work, it’s been carpe diem every day for Markus. At one point we were talking about how much Markus has been able to do and I said to him, “There is a story that when Martin Luther was asked what he would do if he knew that Jesus was coming back tomorrow, and he answered, ‘I would plant an apple tree today.’” We didn’t plant any apple trees this week but did sow some peas and kohlrabi in the garden. And Markus, well he lived life to the fullest too! He worked a few partial days, spent time with his friends, cooked ribs on his smoker, and lots of other things. We are so thankful that Markus feels well enough at this stage to carry on with some of the things he loves to do!
While there are times when we worry or become anxious, we do try to live in the comfort that Jesus is looking after us as our gentle leader, provider, and protector. He is our Shepherd, and we know He is on our side.
“Which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?” (Matthew 6:27)
