Marching for Markus

In the months leading up to Markus’ diagnosis Vince Snyder was mentoring him and some of his friends at Credo Christian High. When he heard the news, Vince reached out with an idea. He just wanted to help.

Vince and his brother Chris are fitness buffs and had already decided to participate in a 4x4x48 challenge from April 2-4. Essentially what it is, is running (or walking) 4 miles every 4 hours, for 48 hours. In Vince’s words, “We wanted to support an organization in doing this challenge, and while we were trying to figure that out, a young man I've been mentoring was diagnosed with cancer.”

It’s pretty special to see Vince and Chris organize this for Markus. Our relationship with them goes back to our time when we lived in Cloverdale. We were close to their family and their parents were mentors for us when we had a young family. To watch the video they put together click here.

Vince and Chris will be doing most of the runs near their home but there will be two opportunities for the public to come out (in a COVID friendly manner) to cheer them on. The first is the initial run on Good Friday at 12:00 noon, and the second the following day at the same time. Both of these runs will be at the track at Aldergrove Secondary School. The address is 26850 29 Ave, Aldergrove, BC.

Markus has been rebounding well from his chemo treatments so God willing, we will be joining Vince and Chris on Saturday at 12:00 at the track. Not sure yet if we’ll be doing any running but we might join them for at least one lap. 😊

They informed us that the best way to see updates will be on Facebook and Instagram. Vince will post stories during the runs, as well as small video clips to Facebook, and the GoFundMe page.

On behalf of Markus and our family, thanks so much to Vince and Chris and all those who are supporting us through the GoFundMe page. May God be glorified!

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
