This week Markus is in his 20th round of chemotherapy treatment. It almost didn’t start as his platelet count was not improving after the last round of chemo. Thankfully after going in for bloodwork earlier this week it showed marked improvement and the doctors gave the go ahead to start on Tuesday.
This is the 3rd round of treatment after the last scan which showed the tumours still growing in his lungs. We continue to pray that God will use these treatments to shrink the tumours enough so that radiation can commence. In the meantime, Markus is showing us how to live life to the fullest.
A number of weeks ago Markus decided that it was time to get On the Mark Maintenance off the ground. He ordered a lawn aerator and worked with his sister Kaitlyn to design a marketing brochure to hand out in neighbourhoods advertising his lawn services. As parents it is so encouraging for us to see Markus keep moving forward! Even though his future is so uncertain he is very purposeful about using the time he has to serve God with his passions and skills.
If all goes well this round will be completed on Saturday. Markus is scheduling aerating jobs starting on March 21st which will allow 7-10 days of recovery first. During that time we also hope to head to Alberta for a few days to visit Sara and Aidan, all things God willing.
We don’t know when the next scan will be scheduled, but likely at the beginning of April. Please pray that God would manifest His power by healing Markus. And if that isn’t how He answers our prayer, that He will show His power by carrying us as Markus endures suffering and we walk with him.
Thanks so much for all your prayers and support!
